At Pioneer House we offer residential living, assisted living, skilled nursing, and rehabilitation. We have answered some frequently asked questions for each of our levels of care on this page.

Residential Living

Visiting Hours

Our visiting hours are from 8am – 8pm every day. If you would like to visit outside of these hours please ring the doorbell for assistance.

What is senior residential living?

Senior residential living is a community designed for those 55 and over that desire worry-free living and social engagement.

What are the prices?

Is there any private space available to use?

Residents may reserve the activities lounge for any special event with notice. Contact the front office if you would like to reserve this space.

What appliances come with the apartment?

Each apartment has a full kitchen and is equipped with kitchen appliances.

Is the community pet friendly?

If you would like a pet friendly apartment please contact the leasing office for options. Pioneer House also welcomes pet visits, as long as vaccination records are up to date and pets are leashed and under their owner’s control. We have specific areas for pets, please inquire with the front desk about our pet policy.

Do I get an assigned parking spot?

There is a fee for resident parking spaces, as space is very limited. Residents are assigned a parking space or are placed on a waiting list until a spot is available. There is limited parking for guests. Please inquire with the marketing department or the front desk for more information.

Do you have a beauty salon or barbershop?

At Pioneer House we have a both a beauty salon and barbershop on-site that offer a variety of services. Please inquire about services, hours, and fees at the front desk.

Is there a telephone in each apartment?

Each apartment is equipped with telephone hookups. If you would like telephone service we can help you set it up through the phone company. We provide a private area with public telephones for use by our residents. Residents are welcome to bring their own mobile device.

Is there access to cable television?

We offer access to basic cable television for all residents in their rooms. Apartment homes do not come with televisions.

Are activities provided?

We believe events and activities enrich our resident’s lives and have a powerful impact on one’s overall well-being. We create a fun, uplifting environment where our residents can be social, get involved, and enjoy their favorite hobbies and activities.

Is smoking permitted?

For the safety and health of our residents and staff, Pioneer House is a smoke-free community. We do, however, have designated smoking areas outdoors. Please inquire with the front desk for the location of designated smoking areas.

Who do I talk to about questions in regard to financials, billing, and/or application paperwork?

At Pioneer House we have a full-time business office manager. Our business office manager will answer any questions you may have regarding financial or billing concerns. To make an appointment with our business office manager, please contact the front desk.

Assisted Living

What is assisted living?

Assisted living is housing for those 55+ that provides assistance with activities of daily living. We offer housekeeping, laundry, and various other services to help each resident attain their highest level of independence.

Do you offer housekeeping?

We provide weekly housekeeping. Our friendly and professional staff cleans each apartment once a week. If alternative measures must be taken, please contact our front office.

What are the prices?

Can family or friends bring pets when visiting?

While our community does not allow pets to live in the assisted living apartments, pets are always welcome to visit. We ask that each pet have their current shots, be kept on a leash when in public areas, and kept under the control of their owner.

Is there any private space available to use?

Each assisted living apartment has a refrigerator, but does not offer a full kitchen.

Is there a dining option?

We have restaurant dining available for three meals a day. The dining room is served restaurant style with menus and servers. Our chef works to create flavorful and nutritious food, and we also accommodate special dietary needs for residents with a physician’s order.

Are activities provided?

Skilled Nursing

Visiting Hours

Pioneer House has open visiting hours, based on the well-being of our residents. If you would like to visit before 8am or after 8pm please call in advance to ensure access.

Will Medicare cover my stay in the community?

If your Medicare card says “Hospital Insurance,” and you have had a qualifying hospital stay in the last 30 days, Medicare will generally pay 100% of your first 20 days in a skilled nursing community.

How often will a physician or health professional visit?

Generally, each resident sees a physician when they are admitted and every thirty days thereafter. However, our nursing staff is in constant communication with each our physicians.

What articles of clothing should we bring?

We recommend bringing at least five changes of clothes and a pair of comfortable rubber-soled shoes. All items should be washed, clearly labeled with the resident’s name, and entered into the resident’s inventory log.

How is the laundry done? Can family members take laundry home?

If you would like us to do your laundry please notify the front office upon admission. Family members can, of course, take care of their loved one’s laundry. If your family member will be washing your laundry please provide a hamper with a lid and ensure it is picked up at least twice a week.

Each item of clothing is washed in an industrial machine at high temperatures. Please make sure the clothing that is brought is appropriate for washing and drying in these high temperatures. Each personal item must be labeled with the resident’s first and last name.

Is there someone who provides haircuts?

At Pioneer House we have a a beauty and barber shop. Hours, services, and appointments can be made through the front desk.

Can my loved one receive mail?

Mail is delivered to each resident daily, except on weekends and holidays.

You may also use our “Send a Greeting” feature where you can type out a note, and we will hand deliver it to your loved one for free. Our “Send a Greeting” feature also offers the option of paying a small fee for a postcard that is mailed to your loved one.

Can children visit?

We encourage children to visit, but we ask that you notify the charge nurse if anyone under the age of 12 will be in the community.

Can we bring a family pet to the community?

Your family pet is invited to visit as long as they are kept on a leash, under the control of their owner, cleaned up after, and up to date on vaccinations.

Can I take my loved one home for a visit?

Residents may take a “leave of absence” with a physician’s authorization. This authorization can be arranged through our nursing staff. When leaving and returning the resident, or responsible party, must sign the “Leave of Absence” book in the nursing station.

Can I bring in my loved one’s favorite food?

Always consult with the nursing staff before bringing food to residents. Many of our residents have physician-ordered specific diets with limitations. Any food kept in the resident’s room must be in properly sealed containers and dated.

Who do I talk to about food preferences? Are there alternate options to each day’s menu?

After admission our on-site dietitian interviews all of our residents. Our registered dietitian keeps these meetings in mind when designing our dietary program.

We follow physician orders to meet the needs of each resident, while making sure the meals are enjoyable and full of flavor. We also administer oral supplements, as prescribed by physicians, and provide regular nutritional assessments by our dietitian.

Should you wish for an alternative food item in place of what is on the daily menu, we ask that you inform the CNA. This information will then be passed on to the Food Service Director, and every effort will be made to accommodate needs.

Will my loved one have telephone access?

Residents are more than welcome to bring their cell phones, and all of our rooms are equipped with a telephone hookup. Please inquire about service activation. There are also cordless telephones at each of the nurse’s stations that are available for resident use.

Will my loved one’s room have a television?

Televisions are not provided. If you would like to bring your own television from home please check with our maintenance director to ensure fire codes are followed.

Respite Stays

How long is a respite stay?

Usually about one week.

Will my loved one be involved in the activities in your community? If so, what type of activities?

Respite residents are involved with everything that happens in the building including regularly scheduled activities.

How will you know what services my loved one needs during their stay?

We will make sure to ask the right questions during the admission process.

Will insurance cover a respite stay?

That is unlikely, but varies from insurance to insurance. Respite stay is usually private pay.

Rehabilitation

How often will the Rehabilitation staff work with my loved one?

When you arrive at Pioneer House you will be assessed and assigned a customized treatment plan. Each plan varies based on the needs of the resident.
